29 arrested in connection to murder of police officer
29 people have been arrested in connection to the murder of a police officer in Ibanda.
An irate mob attacked and killed police officer No. 75290 PC Chemonges Suleiman, a 28-year-old police officer attached to Bisheshe police station in Ibanda District.
PC Chemonges Suleiman was tragically killed by a mob while guarding the funeral of Kahangire Lazarus, an inmate who died at Nyabuhikye Government Ibanda District.
Police responded to the scene, recovering an SMG rifle and 16 rounds of ammunition. PC Suleiman’s body was taken to the Ruhoko Health Centre mortuary. Investigations are ongoing.
Ever since the incident happened, Police have in custody 29 suspects to help them in investigations.
“We have since arrested 29 suspects connected to the murder and continuing with the search for additional perpetrators.
The Uganda Police Force condemns this violent act and assures the public that all those involved in this criminal act will be held accountable.” Said Kituuma Rusoke the Uganda Police Spokesman.
