Museveni kicks off Bunyoro PDM Tour, commends poultry Hoima Farmer

President Yoweri Museveni has today Tuesday 18th March commenced his Wealth Creation Tour to assess the impact of Parish Development Model PDM.
In the last two to three financial years, Government has injected hundreds of billions in different parishes across the country with each parish/ward getting 100 million every financial year.
After years of work on ground, President Museveni last year embarked on Wealth Creation Tour to asses the impact of the program on people’s livelihoods.
He has so far visited regions including but not limited to Bukedi, Bugisu, Teso, Sebei, Busoga, Western/Greater Mbarara among others.
This week, the president is visiting Bunyoro Sub Region and on Tuesday he visited successful farmers in the region with one of the farmers being David Irumba a a poultry Farmer from Hoima.
Irumba has been venturing in poultry for some time and has registered success over the last few years. President Museveni was mesmerized with his project saying he listened to the NRM in 2018 and has now transformed his life.
” I am happy that this civil servant listened to our appeal to go from working only for the stomach to working for money. He started in 2018 and is now making approximately 900 million shillings from his enterprise. His testimony, like many others is that it is easy to get rid of poverty in Uganda”.
Museveni also visited Jackson Mpagazihe, another PDM beneficiary in Kikuube district who is into fish farming.
Museveni asked PDM beneficiaries to take control of the money especially at Parish Level.
“My message remains the same, that these beneficiaries should take full responsibility for the funds they receive. PDM is their bank. It is not a handout but a revolving fund meant to uplift our people from poverty. Those who have received the money must ensure it is put to good use and repaid after two years so that others can also benefit.”
Another farmer visited is Mr Titus Tumusiime, PDM beneficiary in Butiaba Sub County, Buliisa District.
