Nkoma SS Advances to Round of 16 in UMEA Solidarity Games

Nkoma Secondary School, based in Mbale City’s Northern Division, has qualified for the round of 16 in the ongoing Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) Solidarity games. The tournament is being held at Namagabi SS in Kayunga District and began on Friday, April 18th, 2025.
Nkoma SS secured their spot by defeating the host school, Namagabi SS, with a score of 3-1. Rufai Tairu scored a brace, and Mangeni Benjamin added another goal. This win followed a thrilling morning game where Nkoma SS came from behind to beat Aringa SS from Koboko in the last minute.
With this victory, Nkoma SS tops Group G with six points, having bounced back from a loss in their opening game against Kyatamba from Kiboga. In the next stage, Nkoma SS will face the second-place team in Group H to determine who will advance to the quarterfinals.
In the football girls’ category, Nkoma SS lost to Kawempe Muslim 3-2 at Mugema playground. Nkoma SS will play Kinawa High on Sunday, while Kawempe Muslim thrashed Kinawa High 9-0.In table tennis, Nkoma SS will compete for silver against Mbogo Mixed.
Hajji Kawanguzi Abubakr, the headteacher of Nkoma SS, celebrated the win against his former school, Namagabi SS. He expressed satisfaction with the victory, highlighting his commitment to supporting sports and other developments at the school.
