Veteran Leader Zebtek Steps Down for Emma Bwayo in LCV Race

NAMISINDWA: Wepukhulu Zebtek, a respected elder and former contestant for the District Chairperson (LCV) position in Namisindwa, has officially stepped down in favor of youthful leader Emma Bwayo, in a move aimed at uniting the Buwabwala zone behind a single candidate.
Zebtek, who also serves as the District NRM Chairperson for Elders, announced his decision during a community gathering in Buwabwala, emphasizing the need for unity and strategic support within the region. He described Bwayo as a focused and capable leader who embodies the aspirations of the people of Namisindwa.
“I saw the potential in Emma and chose to put the interests of the region above personal ambition,” Zebtek said. “By stepping aside, I believe we are increasing our chances of winning the LCV seat and securing development for our people.”
His endorsement was met with loud approval from local elders, many of whom praised his sacrifice and called on the community to rally behind Emma Bwayo.
Dismas Wanendeya, a prominent elder from Buwabwala Sub-county, said the region had long waited for a credible candidate of their own. “All through the years, we haven’t had someone like Emma. It’s our time to vote our own into leadership,” he said, while urging residents to reject what he termed as opportunists trying to speak for the region without legitimate support.
In response, Emma Bwayo, the current Male Youth Councilor for Namisindwa District, welcomed the endorsement with humility, pledging to work with elders and all stakeholders for the betterment of the district.
“I am honored by the trust placed in me,” Bwayo said. “While I come from Buwabwala, my leadership is for the entire district. The challenges we face here are the same in Bumbo and Bubutu. We need leaders who listen, unite, and act.”
He further called on voters to prioritize leaders who are open to guidance and responsive to community needs.
