Mbale Regional Satellite Zoo Nears Completion

The Mbale Regional Satellite Zoo is approximately 90% complete, according to members of Parliament’s Tourism Committee who visited the site today on Friday.
The zoo, one of several government-funded projects across the country, is being developed at a cost of Shs 6 billion.
Betty Amongin, Chairperson of the Tourism Committee and Woman MP for Apac District, praised the progress made, stating that the work reflects the value of taxpayers’ money.
She added that upon completion, the government would release more funds to construct similar projects in other regions to promote tourism.
James Musinguzi, Executive Director of the Uganda Wildlife Authority, revealed that Shs 5 billion had been utilized, with the project nearing completion. The zoo will feature various wild animals, promoting tourism and educating children about wildlife.
Karimu Masaba, shadle Minister for Tourism and area MP for Industrial City Division, emphasized that the project would not only generate revenue for the government but also benefit locals through job creation and opportunities to sell goods to tourists.
He urged the community to embrace the project.
The Mbale Regional Satellite Zoo is being constructed on National Forestry Authority land along the Mbale-Tororo road in Mutoto, Industrial City Division, Mbale City.
