The Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs, Ambassador Hajji Abbey Walusimbi, has urged the Executive Committee of the Uganda Bureau of Haj Affairs (UBHA) and private companies to ensure early planning, adherence to guidelines, and mutual respect to guarantee a safe and orderly Haj experience for all pilgrims.
While meeting with the UBHA Executive Committee, Ambassador Walusimbi emphasized the significance of Haj as one of the five pillars of Islam, which symbolizes the bond between Almighty Allah and man, and the unity of the Muslim faithful worldwide. He called upon private companies to support pilgrims and ensure they have a smooth experience during the pilgrimage.
“We urge pilgrims to protect Uganda’s image by adhering to guidelines, exercising total commitment, humility, and piety, and purifying their souls,” Ambassador Walusimbi said.
Sheikh Abdullah Yusuf, Vice Chairperson of UBHA, reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to ensuring pilgrims are properly prepared, informed, and supported throughout their journey. He noted that about 1,300 Ugandan pilgrims traveled for Hajj in 2023, rising to approximately 1,600 in 2024, and expecting between 1,800 and 2,000 pilgrims this year.
Secretary General Sheikh Hussein Twaib Bogere stressed that this year’s Haj preparations started early to ensure proper arrangements, given Saudi Arabia’s anticipation of more pilgrims than last year. He urged pilgrims to pray for their well-being, families, and leaders, and for Uganda’s peace and stability.
The UBHA Executive Committee plays a crucial role in preparing Ugandan Muslims for the Hajj pilgrimage, ensuring they are properly prepared, informed, and supported throughout their journey.
