Bag snatcher lyched by an angry mob

A tragic incident occurred in Butebo District, Bukedi North Region, where a 30-year-old man, Michael OCuli, alias Dr. Designer, was lynched to death by a mob.

The incident took place at Kanyum Trading Centre in Kanyum Sub-County on March 12, 2025, at around 9:00 a.m.

According to eyewitnesses, the deceased allegedly snatched a bag from a woman who was picking money from her bag to buy silver fish.

The woman raised an alarm, and a mob chased the deceased, recovering the bag and handing it over to its owner.Unfortunately, the mob proceeded to lynch the deceased to death.

According to Moses Kitiyo Mwanga the Bukedi North region police commander, Police have registered a report of murder by mob action under CRB 49/2025.

He adds that a team of police officers, led by Rita Musana , visited the scene, and the scene was examined and documented. The body was retrieved and taken to Mbale City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

He says that Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased suffered head injuries, and there were stones with blood stains and broken pieces of a eucalyptus tree near the body.

However, he adds that the scene was tampered with, as it was a market day. Inquiries are ongoing.
