Bududa assistant lab technician arrested over corruption, theft of gov’t drugs allegations

Bududa: Bududa District Police Commander Hassan Musooba confirmed the arrest of a laboratory assistant today Wednesday Anthony M Koyola attached to Bufuma Health Centre III located in Bufuma sub county.
Koyola is accused of stealing medicines and medical supplies worth 15 million Uganda shillings from the health center’s stores in Bufuma Sub-county.
According to the police commander, Koyola’s file has been sanctioned, and he is facing three counts: causing financial loss to the government, abuse of office, and theft of medicines and medical supplies.
He adds that Koyola is expected to appear in the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala tomorrow Thursday.
Patrick Nabutanyo the Bududa district acting public relations officer says a team from the State House Health Unit is investigating the matter and will take Koyola to Kampala tomorrow Thursday for further prosecution.
He warned civil servants against stealing government funds and medicines, stating that those found engaging in such behavior will be arrested and prosecuted.
This incident comes after two Bududa officials, Wakoko Kassim and Nakhaima Francis, were arraigned in court for mishandling Parish Development Model funds in Bududa District this year.
