Bugisu Mp involved in accident along Tirinyi-Mbale Highway

A serious road accident occurred today Thursday, at around 4:30 pm at Kadama Trading Center along the Tirinyi-Mbale highway in Kibuku District.
The accident involved three vehicles: a Land Cruiser (registration UNB 193V) driven by Hon. Gerald Nangoli, MP for Elgon North county located in Bulambuli district, a Toyota Harrier (registration UBL 086H) driven by Mafabi Banali, a 47-year-old teacher from Mukono District, and a Toyota Noah (registration UAX 044A) that was parked near a gate.
According Wilfred Kyapasa the Bukedi North region police spokesperson , the Land Cruiser driven by Hon. Nangoli was heading from Tirinyi to Mbale and attempted to overtake a min coach bus. Meanwhile, the Toyota Harrier driven by Banali Mafabi was coming from Mbale heading to Tirinyi.
He says the two vehicles collided head-on, and in an attempt to avoid further collision, the Land Cruiser veered off and knocked into the parked Toyota Noah, which overturned.
Kyapasa says fortunately, no one was killed in the accident but rather got minor injuries.The scene was visited and documented by police officers led by No. 27297 Stg Moses Eriebu .
Both vehicles involved in the collision were towed and are currently parked at Tirinyi Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV). Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
