Mbale City, April 15, 2025 — Julius Nakiyi, aspiring Member of Parliament for Budadiri East in Sironko District, received a strong endorsement on Tuesday from over 300 coordinators, opinion leaders, and local leaders from Bukiise Sub-county during a strategic meeting held at Rosewood Hotel in Mbale City.
The gathering, which brought together LC1, LC2, LCIII officials, councillors, NRM village and parish leaders, religious leaders, boda boda riders, evening class students, and business community representatives from all seven parishes of Bukiise, was part of preparations for Nakiyi’s massive rally slated for Saturday, April 19, at Nadango Primary School playgrounds.
Leaders at the meeting openly pledged their support to Nakiyi, citing his ongoing community involvement and inclusive approach. They urged him to prioritize the rehabilitation of poor roads using murram and hardcores, and to remain alert about potential tampering with voter registers at the village and parish levels.
“If you go to Parliament, don’t disappear like others, come back to the people,” one delegate cautioned.
Chairing the meeting was Gidudu John, LCIII Chairperson of Busulani Sub-county, who praised Nakiyi’s hands-on leadership: “In Busulani, we already call him Hon. Nakiyi. He’s not yet in Parliament, but he’s already solving people’s issues.”
Allan Muduku, a senior FDC mobilizer and former Bukiise councillor, echoed this sentiment: “Nakiyi doesn’t discriminate by religion or political party. Bukiise lacks roads, electricity, and a health centre. If he addresses these, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be our MP.”
Hassan Magobe, an NRM cadre from Mbale City Northern Division, added: “We need strong leadership in Bugisu. We once had the late Walakhabulo — today, we have no voice. Let’s give Nakiyi the platform to speak for the Bamasaba.”
In his address, Nakiyi expressed gratitude for the continued support from Bukiise and unveiled his five-point agenda: economic liberation, infrastructure development, improved social services, unity, and cooperation with government.
“I need a platform to amplify my voice and serve my people. I appeal to all LC1s and LC2s to be my ambassadors, go tell your communities that Nakiyi is ready to lead,” he declared.
