Butaleja district NRM chairman Quits politics, offers himself for advisor

Butaleja: The NRM chairman of Butaleja district, Hajji Issa Walugo, has announced an end into active politics ahead of 2026 general elections.
Walugo, announced his decline at the burial of one Abdul Magidu Magode, in Busolwe town council, a politician who collapsed last evening and died instantly.
Hajji Walugo, stated that he is 73, with now little energy, and opted to quit politics because he admired to retire when people still feel his services. He argued that over stay in power causes mistakes, disrespect and stress.
He thus urged the politicians to consult him freely for advice where necessary. He, non the less condemned some of the politicians who are greedy, proud, and un kind to the voters.
Issa Walugo, served as the LCIII for Busolwe sub county, for 10 years, district councillor representing Busolwe town council, for now 9 years, and has been the chairman of NRM, Butaleja district, for 4 years.
At the same funeral, Rashid Obbo, the dad to Magode’s wife, challenged the people of Bukedi, to stop enriching themselves by heavy charge for bride price out of their daughters.
Rashid, who is also a retired police commissioner, said that Bukedi region has many cases of forced marriages for bride price. He quoted the example of his fallen in-law (Magidu Magode), who allegedly begot many children out of his daughter but never paid any bride price. The retired police commissioner(Rashid), emphasized that he never squeezed Magode for bride price but instead pressurized him to educate their children.
Sam Daka Mwima, Bunyole West MP Aspirant, whom Magidu Magode, has been supporting, regretted for the loss of a dependable political mobilizer. He also assured the mourners that Magidu Magode, has been a victim of high blood pressure.
Meanwhile, Akim Mulogo, one of the aspirants for the Bunyole West MP seat, also a medical expert, urged the public to always endeavor to test their bodies against diseases such as: High blood pressure, Ulcers, HIV AIDs, and diabetes. He said that such diseases are increasingly killing people moreover by surprise as a few, pin each other for witchcraft.
Abdul Magidu Magode, the fallen chief political mobilizer for Sam Daka Mwima, a candidate for Bunyole West MP seat, fell down on Tuesday evening in Busolwe town council and died at the entry into Busolwe General Hospital.
