Butaleja government schools given 7 days to close mini boarding

Butaleja’s Assistant RDC, Jimmy Nambiro, has given the school managers of UPE and USE schools; an ultimatum of Seven days to close mini boarding section.
In a press conference today morning, in his office, Nambiro, emphasized that UPE and USE schools were created to enable the children to access education freely, from near. He said that his intelligence notified to him that many headteachers wiseaced and re started mini boarding across Butaleja district, thinking that the transfer of Eva Kwesiga, meant “Pardon”, for those whose schools were discouraged to effect mini boarding.
Nambiro, said that many people condemned the office of RDC, for the closure of mini boarding towards the end of last year, but emphasized that their office fore warned the school managers against mini boarding section.
The assistant RDC, further challenged the public to meditate on the statements that have been made by President Museveni about UPE and USE in the on going Pdm tour, countrywide.
Nambiro, also directed the school managers to refrain from illegal charges in schools, emphasizing that the government pays for Exams in primary and secondary government aided schools.
According to him, such charges have been a cause for school dropout.
He advised the parents to pack food for their school going children, and directed the D.E.O and C.A.O, to give him a list of the adamant headteachers; then warned the police against frustrating the operation against such illegality, and opted to borrow external support in a bid to streamline the education in Butaleja district.
Towards the end of 2024 academic year, the office of RDC, closed mini boarding in a number of schools across Butaleja district, citing lack of the requirements, over charges, and presidential directive in reference to the definition of Universal education.
