Butaleja leaders build a school, call for compulsory feeding

Butaleja: The district leaders of Butaleja, have today gathered at Budumba secondary school to mobilize funds for the construction of a 2 classroom block.
The Fundraising drive was officiated by Godfrey Nasuga Musulemi, the Assistant RDC for Butaleja district. It included the school parents, well wishers and politicians like: Florence Andiru Nebanda, District Woman MP for Butaleja, Michael Higenyi Bore, the LCV, James Waluswaka, former MP for Bunyole West, Hinapuna Ivan Nangulu, MP aspirant for Bunyole West, and Hadija Nanyonga, Female district councillor for Budumba sub county, and Mr. Emmanuel Njose, former LCV councillor for Budumba sub county.
Patrick Weere, the headteacher of Budumba secondary school, stated that he has a population of 700 students, with limited structures for learning. He also said that the planned construction will help them retain the school’s centre Number, which the Ministry of education was allegedly threatening to snatch on account of the school’s lack of examination room.
Michael Higenyi Bore, the district chairman, urged the parents to boost their children with food at school. He also challenged them to carry on the responsibility of regular visitation to their children, with enough support via scholastic materials.
Godfrey Nasuga Musulemi, the Assistant RDC, decried that Budumba secondary school is over populated, with limited structures to accommodate the learners, and as an example, he raised some materials worth 700,000=, for the cause.
The Assistant RDC, also emphasized that unity and determination are key, for development, then directed the school’s headteacher to lead the construction with transparency.
Ivan Nangulu Hinapuna, MP aspirant for Bunyole West, said that he is a product of USE, at Kiyeyi secondary school in Tororo district, and listed numerous challenges which moreover made him achieve a different profession from his initial dreams.
He asked the parents to sacrifice for better education, and emphasized that Fundraising doesn’t call for merely Money, but also other items worthy money.
Hadija Nanyonga, Female district councillor for Budumba sub county, asked the parents to take education as a priority, arguing that it’s the source of development in any area.
While Eng. James Waluswaka, former MP for Bunyole West, promised to link the school administrators of Budumba secondary school to the relevant Ministry, for any necessary help needed. He also emphasized that he will meet Eng. Asaf Abenitwe, the commissioner in the Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure development on Tuesday, to discuss discuss technically about Budumba secondary school.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Njose, the district probation officer for Butaleja, expressed much concern for the school goers who waste time in trading centres in awkward hours. He asked the parents to act on the mess seriously.
