CSOs, CBOs trained on Peace and Security Advocacy

Members and other leaders of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community Based Organisations (CBOs) and youths have been trained on Peace and Security Advocacy in their line of operation.

The 2day training organised by Youth Advocacy and Development Network- Uganda(YADNET) in partnership with the American Friends Service Commission(AFC) and Salama Hub was designed to effectively contribute to peacebuilding and proactive conflict prevention within the young leaders and members of CSOs, and FBOs with essential advocacy skills to communities.
According to Moreen Twikirize, the Country Director of YADNET, during the 2days training, best practices have been engaged and challenges have been identified in advancing peace and security across the Horn of Africa.
“This workshop was not just about dialogue, it was about action. We have explored smart advocacy strategies, policy engagement and the power of collaboration in addressing realities” Twikirize added.
Precious Atuhiire a participant from UGANET says the training was a critical step in strengthening grassroots-led conflict prevention since it emphasized the role of Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) mechanisms in mitigating conflicts before they escalate.
“The sessions equipped young advocates, CSOs, and CBOs with strategic advocacy tools, enhancing their ability to navigate policy landscapes, engage in evidence-based lobbying, and build collaborative networks for peace and security” she added.
Kobusingye Esther another participant from Climate Impact Initiative Uganda the workshop on peace and security was an insightful and transformative experience, focusing on key strategies for peace building, conflict resolution and a smart policy advocacy.
“I can use my skills by educating the community about early warning of violence and how they can sense, detect the problem and how they can solve it by communicating to their leaders, using media to pass on information to everyone that is through the local leaders ,church leaders and through lobbying.” Kobusingye affirmed.
This advocacy training workshop offered a transformative opportunity for participants
strategies, the workshop aimed to empower participants to make a meaningful impact.
The outcomes of the event was pivotal in strengthening the collective ability to
to gain essential skills and foster partnerships necessary to promote lasting peace and inclusivity in their communities by promoting dialogue, collaboration, and actionable influence meaningful change and progress.
