Dates Set for District Championship in Sironko

The Sports Committee for Sironko District Secondary Schools Sports Association, led by Organizing Secretary Mr. Madoi Mac, confirmed the dates for the district championship on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The championship will take place on Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, at Sironko High School.
Nine teams will participate in the football boys’ category, while eight teams will compete in the girls’ category. Five grounds will be used during the championship: Sironko High School, Mahempe, District Headquarters, Sironko Parents Playground, and Sironko Primary School.
Sironko District has four zones: Bugunzu, Budadiri, Mutufu, and Sironko. Each zone will be represented by two schools, except for the Sironko zone, which will have three teams. The teams will be divided into three groups, with the leading team in each group directly qualifying for the semifinals. The best loser will also be considered.
The semifinals will be played on Thursday, and the finals will take place on Friday at Sironko High School. The defending champions, Sironko Progressive, are grouped with Bugambi and Global Vision and will play their matches at Sironko Primary School Playground.
Last year’s runners-up, Sironko Standard, are in Group B alongside Buteza Seed and Nambulu SS, with their matches scheduled to take place at Mahempe primarySchool. Group C consists of Masaba SS, Sironko High School, and Sironko Parents Mutufu, who will compete at Sironko High School playground.
According to the organizers, the finals will be played on Friday, and the leading three teams in the district competition will represent Sironko district in the forthcoming Bugisu zone championship.
