BUTALEJA: The NRM supporters in Butaleja have today held a meeting in Hope guest house, Butaleja, to discuss the messes and way forward for NRM party in Butaleja district.
The supporters, described themselves as NRM National coordinator’s Forum, set to re organize the NRM party. They criticized the mainstream district leader, Issa Walugo, whom they referred to as incapable to unite the supporters apparently.
Richard Were Mudehere, was elected as their leader for a while as they mobilize more people to join NRM.
Richard Were, the interim chairman stated that their faction was founded by General Muhoozi Kaiberugaba, and overseen by the military officers, who moreover cherish secrecy.
He also said that they will seriously use their Forum to unite the NRM supporters and will mobilize more into the party. He, however, urged the followers to contribute a subscription fee of 10,000= each, before officiated as members who will soon get the acknowledgement from President Yoweri Museveni.
This never pleased the NRM followers in the house. Some of them burst, to the extent of demanding for the accountability of their subscription fees; and referred to Richard Were as a con man.
Yusuf Mugoya Mbubi, the area LCII, told the house that NRM embraces transparency, consistency and respect for one another. He also urged the members to use their new Forum to seek Pdm and Emyooga.
But some other members: Akim Mulepo wa Mulepo, of Nawanjofu sub county, and Gabriel Tamba, of Kachongha sub county, nearly grabbed Richard Were by the color, doubting his intentions of collecting the subscription fee, in the political party whose National chairman is the leading donor to electorates.
They further assured the house that Richard Were, might cause negatives for NRM party in Butaleja district. The members also doubted Were’s intentions because him and his vice wore yellow T-shirts without the party’s logo.
Peter Ojwang, the LCIII for Busolwe sub county, also a leader in Mobilizers’ Forum, said that they came up with the idea of forming a parrarrel mobilisation team because the recent NRM register update has many gaps; thus are looking for better strategies to maintain NRM supremacy in Butaleja district. Ojwang, also raised his optimism that President Yoweri Museveni will dish them money through Pdm and Emyooga.
