Zubair Galiwango a resident of Nakaloke in Mbale Northern City Division also known as National Council of Sports Official, has officially come out to join contestants for the position of NRM Chairman for Mbale City.
This was yesterday Sunday during a media interaction at his home in Nakaloke. Galiwango came out and assured the public that he Mbale City as a city, needs a leader of his calibre.
I’m here to serve and change mbale city. I will have to start with those selling of party flags to mediocre candidates who simply buy them with money and struggle in the general elections which is leading our party backwards. This will reduce corruption and nepotism in the Mbale NRM office.
Galiwango painted a picture of his achievements, more so in sports and politics, noting that he once served as the manager of several teams including our own mbale Heroes leading it to win Kakungulu Cup.
In politics, he served as LCIII Chairman of Nakaloke Sub-County and for Town Council, where he spearheaded the acquisition of two plots one for a dumping site and another for a slaughter slab. He also served as NRM General Secretary and later as NRM District Chairman.
Galiwango expressed concern about the current state of the party in Mbale, citing poor leadership as a major setback.
Galiwango flashed a touch in the last elections and mobilisation for President Museveni in mbale city and discovered that there was under mobilisation which resulted to 30% of NRM i Mbale City, despite the government’s visible development efforts such as street upgrades and the construction of the central market, attributing this poor performance to internal issues within the city’s NRM leadership.
“The party is struggling because of self-centered leaders who are not working as a team to develop NRM in Mbale,” he said.
Declaring his candidacy, Galiwango urged to party members for support.
