Ghetto Youths led by their speaker Kamba Aziz, Nabatanzi Favour, Siraji Wante, Khabuya Pamela among others say ever since Gen. Christopher Damulira and Major Emma Kutesa came and assured them of President’s support, they have never received any message from them.
“We have waited enough, we see other regions especially in Kampala received the money but it seems we have been neglected. We also want to be like those in Kampala.” Nabatanzi Favour told Mbale Express TV.
Walimbwa Ali Mugerwa the Ghetto President says he has resorted to hiding after having no answer to tell his subordinates. He says he has been confronted by the ghetto youths who accuse him of eating the money that was sent by the President.
He denied that he hasn’t received any cash from the President and he hasn’t received any formal communication from his superiors Gen. Christopher Damulira and Major Emma Kuteso.
“I have resorted ti hiding because the youths look for me everywhere. I have been cornered on several occasions and my life is in danger. I receive very many questions of which I have no answers. I request the president to act upon this matter.”
He appealed to them to fasten the process and remind the president of his pledge.
Maureen Atuhaire the Patron of the ghetto youths asserted that they have done all the donkey work in organising the youths and making them pro government. She fears that the delay in the release of the money to the ghetto SACCOs may lead to defection.
She appealed to Gen. Damulira and Maj. Emma Kutesa to act swiftly snd handle the matter. She also expressed confidence in them claiming they have all what it takes to handle the matter. But she warned that delay may lead to the matter going our of hand.
“I have hope that Gen. Damulira will follow up this matter, otherwise I get more than ten phone calls a day from the Ghetto youths asking me whether we received the money or not.”
According to Maureen, the ghetto youths were promised motorcycles, welding machines and 100 million for each SACCO to help them in poverty eradication and wealth creation.
However the Ghetto youths expressed support for president Museveni especially during the upcoming General Election.
The presidential pledge in question was made during the President’s Wealth Creation Tour in Bugisu as he met the youth at Mbale SS stadium during the Bugisu Youths Symposium.
