Gogonyo MP Orone takes Pallisa NRM leadership
Pallisa; The Gogonyo county member of parliament Hon.Orone Derrick on friday emerged the winner of highly contested highest NRM position in the district.
Hon.Orone was left to wrestle with Hon.Jacob Richards Opolot Mooka the former member of parliament for Pallisa County whom Hon. Otukol Sam who has crossed to contest in Agule county replaced.
In this election where Orone polled 453 against Opolot’s 259 tore the district into two rifts , each camp having strong people.xith high political community command.
Orone faction had MP David Ochwa(Agule),MP Oseku Richard(Kibale), MP Kaala Kevin (women),Okwii Constantine,Hajji Ibrahim Aisu, Ibrahim Ibrahim Aisu,Patrick Okiring,Loius Opange former MP(Pallisa),David Apua, Herbert Okello,Vincent Oluka,Simon Okia among others while Opolot has Issa Taligola,Kadimba Patrice George the Pallisa county NRM aspirant,Agola Hope Ibaseret Josephine the Agule county aspirant,Duchu Patrick LC5,Polycarp Ogwari former MP (Agule), Robert Otaget, Patrick Arionget Hausi Njaye Byantalo,
Jane Nangobi the district NRM registrar said the polling delayed and started at 2: 40pm as some delegates delayed to arrive to Pallisa SS playground the communicated venue.
Issa Taligola Bantalib who is to challenge Orone for Gogonyo county bid in 2026 regarded the exercise as fraudulent as most people who were lined up were not eligible voters but substitutes.
Taligola said some delegates who shied away in the lining up method were replaced.
” The registrar refused to screen the delegates and also denied the candidates to say a word or two in a minute which was regrettable.
However, Orone in his press briefing immediately after the polls pledged to unite all the people of Pallisa.
” This was just an election geared towards electing district party leadership but we all belong to one house and need shared responsibility to drive the party on.
Other who were elected include Ibrahim Ibrahim Aisu as vice chairperson, Hon David Ochwa MP Agule county secretary general, Apua David Kedi publicity, Albert Ojukul finance .
Chairpersons of other leagues are womens league Josephine Ibaseret the former deputy DRC of Namisindwa, Nicholas Osako elders, youth Okiria Dennis, veterans Oullo Joseph,workers Legesi Stephen, PWDs Aupal George and Hajji Aisu Ibrahim.
Orone acknowledged the congratulation message he got from Opolot through his chief coordinator Hausi Byantalo Njaye that David Apua secretary for publicity read during their Saturday talkshow in Pallisa FM Orone’s owned radio station .
Najaye said the exercise went on well on those who expected it to turn chaotic had their shame.
” People have spoken and we need to rest their unforgettable decision.our team please get back to usual business and repel the insults by keeping quiet in every game the winners continue jubilating until next season as losers reorganize themselves for the next league”,Njaye said.
Orone pledged neutrality in the forthcoming MP primaries.
” I will hand the office to my executive members Ojukul and Apua who are not contesting because as a Gogonyo county candidate I will be busy , Aisu my vice, Ochwa the secretary general will battling in Pallisa and Agule respectively . I will do this to avoid the issue of saying he is positioning himself to deprive others to access services in the office.Whether you supported me or not go and canvass for your votes nobody will get favoured from the office as others may think results will be changed as claimed in the 2020 exercise”,Orone said.
