Butaleja: The farmers in Bunyole West constituency, Butaleja district, have today afternoon received a total of 1000Kg of hie breed maize seeds, to boost food security in their house holds.
The seeds were donated by Wycliffe Mutono, the district councillor for Busabi sub county, and he started with Budumba and Busaba sub counties.
Mutono, who plans to extend his generousity to Nawanjofu and Busolwe sub counties similarly, says that he opted to give the farmers Longe 5, said to be the most resistant to hard conditions.
He gave the seeds to 12 people per village, identified by their LCs, regardless of their political affiliation. The political leader, argued that food security, stabilizes good marriages and asked the beneficiaries not to sell the seeds.
One of the beneficiaries, Weere Mande Hulya, said that Mutono, is a focused leader. According to him, the small amount of money usually given to the voters by politicians only helps those who drink alcohol.
Another, Wilson Gessa, shouted his joy, saying that it was his first time to meet a politician who wishes future development. He argued that he’s been meeting only those with simple cash worth a sachet of salt.
Mutono Wycliffe, is famous for donations, including having built 56 houses for the less privileged, donated tins of vegetables, and scholastic materials for school goers.
