Manafwa District NRM leaders have today Tuesday introduced and endorsed a new candidate, Annet Musibukha, a former government social worker, to challenge embattled former Minister Gorret Kitutu in the upcoming NRM primaries.
Charlise Walibwa Peke, Manafwa District NRM Chairperson, announced the endorsement, citing Kitutu’s involvement in an iron sheet scandal as a reason for the party’s decision to front a new candidate.
Walibwa expressed the party’s readiness to support Musibukha in the primaries and general elections Instead of the Minister like how they were doing in the last two elections.
Annet Musibukha stated her readiness to lead the district if elected, promising to focus on wealth creation, improving household incomes, and enhancing healthcare. She criticized the current woman MP’s involvement in scandals.
Gorret Kitutu, the incumbent Woman MP and former Minister for Karamoja, was unavailable for comment by press time after her phones were off
Another candidate, Rose Mutonyi, is also vying for the same position.
