Manchester United humiliated by limping spurs in Europa League final

Manchester United on Wednesday night gave away an opportunity of not only winning silverware this season but also lost an opportunity to play in the Champions League next season.
Tottenham grabbed a goal towards the end of the first half through Brennan Johnson which later turned out to be a match winner.
Manchester United tried to force their way in with efforts from their attackers like Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandez and Rasmus Højlund’s effort which was cleared off the line by a Spurs Defender after Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario was beaten beyond recovery.
Spurs had a long list of absentees including their star winger Dejan Kulusevski, Playmaker James Maddison, Timo Werner, Radu Drăgușin and Lucas Bergvall were all injured. Manchester United had on two absentees Matthijs de Ligt who is struggling with a hamstring injury and Lisandro Martínez who has a cruciate ligament injury.
Manchester United’s season just went from bad to worse after registering their worst point tally in the Premier League, Europa was much seen as a redemption to win silverware and secure Champions League Football.
However Ruben Amorim’s men didn’t deliver to expectations. But he is optimistic he will do good work at Old Trafford. “I’m confident in doing this job if the board let me. And as you can see, I am confident in my job”.

Amorim also asserted that he won’t resign as long as his bosses and the fans still believe in him.
“I will not quit. I am confident in my job and I will not change anything”.
“If the board or fans feel that I’m not the right guy, I will go the next day without any conversation about compensation… but I will NOT quit”.
Among those who won big is Spurs Captain Son who had spent 10 years at the club performing at high-level but never won a major trophy. Son told the media that he can now call himself a legend of the club.
While Manchester United Captain Bruno Fernandes said it wasn’t just their day. He also thinks Amorim is still the best man for the job. “I do think Rúben Amorim is the right man for us”.
“I don’t think what happened this season shows exactly what he is as a manager. I do think he’s the right manager for the future of this club”.
Another player who was positive was Diogo Dalot.“This club must not die and will never die. Being in pain is positive, it’s the first step towards change”.
“There’s a lot of things we need to change, whether its behaviours every day.
“Standards need to be a LOT higher”.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou also spoke about his future after the games : “I’d be disappointed if I couldn’t continue on this path. Mate, I’m a winner. I’ve been a winner my whole career”.
“Even when I signed, Daniel Levy said we went after winners and it didn’t work, now we’ve got Ange”.
