MAYUGE: Beneficiary of Shs1m PDM Funds Reaps Big after applying Museveni’s Four-Acre Model

The ONC Regional Coordinator for Busoga, Ms. Kyanika Rehema, alongside Regional Muzzukulu Coordinator, Mr. Kisoma Samuel, yesterday, March 1, 2025, visited PDM beneficiaries in Mayuge District among whom was Ms. Naiwumbwe Janet, a resident of Munyonyi Village, Mpungwe Subcounty, who shared her experience with the program.
Naiwumbwe revealed that while she signed for 1 million UGX, she received 960,000 UGX, with 40,000 UGX reportedly deducted for an ATM card. Additionally, before getting the 960,000 UGX, she had to spend approximately 50,000 UGX on processing fees.
Despite these deductions, Naiwumbwe made strategic investments following President Museveni’s four-acre model of farming. She allocated 500,000 UGX to rice farming, harvesting eight bags, and anticipates earning around 1 million UGX from sales.
With the remaining 460,000 UGX, she topped up from her savings to make 500,000 UGX and invested in cassava farming on two acres of land. While the crop is thriving, the ongoing hot season has posed a challenge. However, she remains optimistic about reaping good yields when the produce is due.
Mr. Kibugo Nasser, the Secretary of the LCI committee, expressed his gratitude towards the Office of the National Chairman for engaging with beneficiaries and ensuring that funds are used effectively. He commended the coordinators for their dedication to delivering value for money and empowering communities through productive investments.
