Mbale city kicks off serious operations against street vendors, poor motorcycle parking

Mbale city council today 18th February 2025 started an operation against street vendors, poor displays of goods by shop owners and poor street parking by motorists.
The operation started today’s morning aftern mbale city council shouting a warning through public address system the whole of last week.
In the operations headed by the industrial city town clerk and public relations officers mbale city James Kutosi, street vendors where advised to go and occupy central market since they are some vacant places yet the blocking streets.
Kutosi said that the city is not against any business but they are trying to organise the city to look beautiful the way it used be those days and also creating way for pedestrians to pass well without inconveniences.
Today we have covered market street, kumi road, Bishop wasike road and Naboa road not only enforcing but also sensitising them to know that it’s our roll to keep the city look good.
He add that the congestion of the things along the streets is causing alot of accidents since our people lack where to pass.
However Mugisha Godfrey Town clerk in charge of industrial city division said the operation is going to take one in both Northern and industrial divisions early in the morning and late in the evening to make sure that the law has been enforcement. He also added that those street vendors who will accept to join Central market, will be given an offer to operate free of charge as they get used before paying.
He however urged them to comply for the development of mbale city.
