MBALE: Physical Planner Arrested Over Land Fraud

Mbale; Hasashy Veronica, the Physical Planner for Busiu Town Council in Mbale District, was arrested on Wednesday evening on the orders of Mbale District Resident District Commissioner (RDC) George William Wopuwa.
Wopuwa accuses Hasashy of forging minutes of the Physical Planning Committee meetings that never took place and illegally transferring land ownership from the rightful owner, Musibukha Juliet, to a woman identified as Rachel Nabudde, who has never owned the property.
He stated that Hasashy’s arrest will facilitate investigations and serve as a deterrent against future land fraud. Wopuwa also urged leaders to remain honest and serve the public diligently.
John Wambi, a resident of Busiu Town Council, applauded the RDC for his swift response to public concerns, noting that land fraud is on the rise as wealthy individuals exploit their positions to dispossess the poor.
By the time of reporting, Hasashy was still in custody at Busiu Police Station pending further investigations.
