The Mbale School of Hygiene in Northern Division, Mbale City, is gearing up to host the highly anticipated regional paramedical championship. Scheduled to take place from Monday, May 5th to Wednesday, May 7th, 2025, the event promises to be an exciting showcase of talent and teamwork.
A variety of sports will be featured, including athletics and field events, football, netball, volleyball, handball, mind games, and woodball, with both boys and girls participating. The games will be held across three fields: Malukhu DA, SOCCO, and the School of Hygiene.
According to Alioni Jimmy, Sports Tutor and Registrar, the institution is fully prepared to host the championship and is confident that the conducive environment will contribute to a successful event. “We have done what it takes to host, and we hope our athletes will observe discipline to ensure a successful championship,” Jimmy emphasized.
The woodball team captain, Amunyo Irene, expressed confidence in her team’s abilities, stating, “We have trained enough to maintain our good records at the regional level and even for nationals.” She also appreciated the school’s support, noting that they had provided equipment despite only training for two months. Amunyo added, “We appreciate the Federation of Woodball for introducing this game. Woodball is a good game, even though some people think it’s only for planned kids.”
The program schedule has athletics and field events, as well as woodball, taking place on Monday, May 5th, with other games on Tuesday, May 6th, and the final day on Wednesday, May 7th.
As of now, three health institutions have confirmed their participation: School of Hygiene Mbale, Mbale College of Health Science, and Salem Nursing School. The best schools will represent the region at the national championships to be held in Hoima.
With preparations underway, the Mbale School of Hygiene is set to provide a platform for paramedical students to showcase their skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The championship is expected to be an exciting and memorable experience for all participants.
