MBALE: UNBS Sensitizes Local Manufacturers on Product Certification
The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), with support from TradeMark Africa, is sensitizing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Mbale District on standards, product certification requirements, and the certification process.
Kirabo Sylvia, the UNBS Public Relations Officer, revealed this during a one-day sensitization meeting at Mbale Resort on Wednesday afternoon. She emphasized that the initiative aims to help MSMEs in the Elgon region acquire the UNBS Q Mark to enhance market access and improve the competitiveness of their products both locally and internationally.
Mbale City Production Officer George Mangeni urged stakeholders to improve their standards and ensure that all products meet quality requirements.
John Wandwasi, a consumer from Bududa, called on UNBS to intensify efforts to regulate the growing number of energy drinks, which he says pose a health risk to consumers.
