Minister Bows out NRM District Chairman race over irregularities

Florence Namboozo, the state minister for Karamoja Affairs who doubles as the Woman Member of Parliament for Sironko district has bowed out of the race for the NRM District Chairperson citing irregularities.
According to the sources from the minister’s camp, several delegates were locked out of the election grounds accusing them of being supporters of the minister.
The sources add that the tags that were meant to be given to the delegates supporting the minister were given to wrong people and others carried more than one tag to the grounds while some men possessed tags bearing female names.
While speaking to Minister Namboozo, she says she contested on the position to revamp the NRM party support in the district. She however adds that whatever happened is unfortunate but it will not stop her from being a staunch and loyal supporter of NRM.
However, some of the voters like Dison Balayo say the electoral process was free and fair and others say Minister Namboozo was afraid to lose hence withdrawal.
Minister Florence Namboozo was in a race with the incumbent Sironko NRM Chairman Sulaiman Mafabi Lumolo.
Sulaiman Lumolo was declared the winner unopposed for the NRM district chairman race by the Sironko NRM registrar, Milton Mafabi. After his declaration, Lumolo pledged to mobilise people to support NRM and make sure that all elective positions in Sironko are taken by NRM.
