Minister cautions teachers to stop fees charge in government aided schools

The Minister of state for Local government, Victoria Rusoke, has cautioned the Head teachers to stop charging fees in the Government aided schools, in a bid to fulfill the motive of Universal Education in the government aided primary and secondary schools across the country.
Addressing hundreds of people who attended the belated Women’s day celebration at Butaleja Booma ground on Friday, Ms. Rusoke, stated that the NRM government opted to introduce free education, intent to enable the children to afford the required knowledge, and to stop school dropout, and early marriages.
She testified that learning was complicated in the past regimes because the defilers and rapists were many, and without any regulations. She disclosed that she survived such weird men by meandering, for long distances before school, and home respectively.
She also revealed that some headteachers who charge fees, apparently, tend to compromise a few parents in General meetings, and then the compromised group suffocate the majority, of the poor parents.
The Minister, thus directed the RDCs and the Police to swing in action, against the teachers who chase the UPE, USE learners for fees. She warned that government will soon tighten up the hand against the adamant school head teachers.
The state Minister, however, advised the women to embrace the culture of Saving, for development. Rusoke, empowered the Butaleja District Women’s Development Association (BUDWA), with cash of 2M, and 500,000= for sanitary towels.
Florence Andiru Nebanda, the district woman MP for Butaleja, thanked the Butaleja district local government, NGOs and the office of RDC, for their support towards the successful belated women’s day celebration.
She reported that she has championed the inclusion of the women for benefit in parish development model, and other programs. She also said that through the Butaleja district women’s development association(BUDUWA), a section of the Butaleja women have been helped to improve on their livelihood through horticulture(growing of vegetables).
The woman MP, also said that she convinced the Ministry of gender to conduct “Leadership training”, and reported that they successfully engaged the district female councillors for the cause. The Minister of state for Local government, Victoria Rusoke, who was the guest of Honor, nonetheless, promised to effect another training for the district service commission and other district leaders, for better service delivery in Butaleja district.
Betty Nesihwe, the Butaleja district probation officer, in the gathering, noted that gender based violence is on a rise in Butaleja district, caused by income inequalities, disrespect by the women to their husbands, and ignorance of the law.
She thus urged the men to give freedom to their wives for Finance control on homes, and assured the women that emancipation doesn’t mean disrespecting husbands.
