Money lenders respond positively to RDC’s call

Following the RDC’s warning to the money lenders who confiscated people’s National Identity cards for loans, to return them to the owners within 14 days, Butaleja’s Assistant RDC, Godfrey Nasuga Musulemi, has reported a positive response.
Addressing the journalists today, in his office, Mr. Nasuga, revealed that he has received 21 reports of people whose Identity cards were returned within the “Two” days, after his concern. He says that the Lenders in Busaba sub county and Budumba sub county, have adhered to the call, doing the return before the 14 days’ ultimatum elapse.
According to the Assistant RDC, the 21 people who restored their National Identity cards from the money lenders, have now applied to get Pdm cash in this phase.
He thus urged the few who still cling on the people’s National Identity cards, to surrender the property, because such cards do more work beyond Parish development model.
On Tuesday, Butaleja’s Assistant RDC, Godfrey Nasuga Musulemi, caused panic among the money lenders of Butaleja district, who confiscated people’s National Identity cards for loans, when he directed them to return the people’s cards within 14 days.
In a related development, Musulemi, the Assistant RDC, said that the registration for Parish development model, is being handled systematically as the commissioner opened up a war on the Sacco leaders who extort money from the beneficiaries.
He emphasized that Pdm transaction is free of charge, to the extent that sacco leaders earn a facilitation of 500,000=, for Data, airtime, foams and photo copying. He further revealed that the Sacco leaders already received a Sum of 250,000=, for the cause.
The commissioner, however, advised the public to report such cases in his office and vowed to handle such issues with no bias.
