Namisindwa District Local Government has received a significant boost of 400 million shillings from the Ministry of Finance to complete the second floor of its storied building, which will house district offices.
According to Jackson Wakwaika , the LCV Chairperson of Namisindwa District, told our reporter today Tuesday that funds have already been deposited into the district’s account, and plans are underway to select a contractor to commence work.
He says the construction of the second floor is expected to provide much-needed office space, as some officers have been sharing offices due to inadequate facilities.
However, Emma Bwayo, the Namisindwa District Male Councilor, raised concerns about the project’s budget,
He says according to the original BOQs, the project was 1.4 billion shillings, “we have so far spent 1.8 billion on the project with works still at 50%”.
Bwayo says there is totally no value for the money because all the money is budgeted for the building which calls for investigations adding that same concerns were raised during the Ogwang visit in the district.
