Peace Khalayi, the Namisindwa District Woman Member of Parliament aspirant for 2026, donated iron sheets to Lwakhakha Mosque, which was severely damaged by heavy rains and storms earlier this week.
The donation, made after Juma prayers yesterday Friday, aimed to support the mosque’s repair and provide a comfortable space for Muslims to pray.
Khalayi emphasized the importance of maintaining places of worship, particularly after the mosque’s roof was destroyed, forcing Muslims to pray in the open. In addition to the iron sheets, Khalayi also donated cowpeace seeds to Muslim mothers, enabling them to grow vegetables, boost their household income, and increase food production.
The Muslim community at Lwakhakha Mosque, including Maimuna Khayonngo, expressed gratitude for Khalayi’s support and pledged to mobilize votes for her across all mosques in the district.

They noted that it’s remarkable for a non-Muslim aspirant like Khalayi to support a mosque, whereas other aspirants have failed to do so since they were hit by the disaster early this week.
In same district and day, disaster domolisshed over 100 houses of people in Lwakhakha town council and Sabino primary school located at Bukiabi sub county.
