Newcastle beat Liverpool to win Carabao Cup ending 70 year draught

Newcastle United on Sunday beat Premier League leaders Liverpool at Wembley Stadium to win the their first domestic title since 1955.
Newcastle got a lead towards the end of first half through Dan Burn in the 45th Minute. Alexander Isak had his goal disallowed for offside before scoring the winner a few minutes later in 52nd minute.
The inform striker continued testing the Liverpool goal keeper Caoimhin Kelleher but the Liverpool shot stopper managed to prevent further damage.
Liverpool got a consolation later in the 94th Minute through Federico Chiesa but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat at Wembley.
Despite boasting a 66% possession, Newcastle looked a better side overall with 17 shots and 6 on target whereas Liverpool managed on 7 shots and 2 on target.
Liverpool danger man Muhammed Salah was kept silent for the whole game having no positive impact to Liverpool for the whole 90 minutes.
Newcastle’s EFL Cup victory is their first domestic trophy since the 1955 FA Cup ending a 70 year domestic trophy draught.
