ACP Omala laid to rest amidst wanting welfare of Police Officers

Former Kampala North Police Commander Assistant Commissioner was laid to rest on Saturday at his Ancestral Home in Senda Pasikula village, Senda Parish, Kirewa Sub county, Tororo District.
The late passed on at the age of 65 having been battling with Cancer for a very long time. Omala served at several ranks in the force and retired at the rank of Assistant commissioner of Police in 2020.
He has been working with Arrow Security as the Director Operations a company owned by Ugandan Politician and Businessman Mike Mukula.
In his message to the mourners, Mike Mukula expressed his condolences to the family but pledged to Continue fighting for the welfare of the Police.
He noted that Police has been forsaken in areas of Health and Education and that it’s so sad that officer have to sale their Property to cater for their health bills especially after retirement.
He revealed that Omala sold his house in Kampala and resorted to renting in the advanced stages of his sickness having been suffering from Prostate Cancer.
“I have one last message which is important and this goes to Gen. Kahinda Otafire, continue to fight for the welfare of the police. I don’t want to see a police officer retire and sell his home to treat himself”.
” Improve the way the policemen sleep, we must ensure that in every region there’s a medical care unit and a school for their children to go to so that if they struggle in other areas they shouldn’t struggle for fees, for education, for medical care”.
AIGP Bamunoba ubaldo (Chief Political Commissar Uganda Police) who represented the Inspector General of Police noted that it’s in their best interest to improve the welfare of the police.
He noted that issues of education, health, feeding and welfare for both serving and retired police officers is on of the main priorities of the top management of Police.
“It’s our priority of us as the top leadership to ensure that the welfare of our police officers is catered for”.
“The police has health centers all over the country across the regions with appointed medical doctors called police surgeons.We don’t only treat police officers but also extend our services to members of the community”.
In terms of accommodation, he revealed that the Uganda Police Force has started renovating houses of Police officers across the country. He also reveals that the IGP has already launched the construction of 120 blocks in Naguru Police Headquarters that will house police officers and their families and that the program shall extend to all regions.
He also revealed that the Force is planing to construct schools across all regions and that education for retired and serving officers shall study for free. He also added that Uganda Police is set to construct a 200 bed capacity specialized modern hospital that shall handle all critical cases of Police Officers including cancer.
Several leaders including Bukedi Region Army Commander Brig. Gen. Robert Rutainama, Capt. Mike Mukula, A IGP Bamunoba Ubaldo, Tororo LCV Chairman John Okeya, all hailed fallen Sam Omala for being a man who always completes his assignment. Among the highlights of his career is the walk to work operations against Dr. Kizza Besigye.
Mukula described his as a rare species of police officers.
