ONC NOTES PROMISING ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN KALANGALA ISLANDS/DISTRICT GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

Kalangala: As President Kaguta Museveni’s office (ONC) monitors schools in the whole country, his coordinators-Mr Keitira Bryan and Namisango Harriet inspected Government aided St Theresa Bwendero Primary School-Bujumba where they found a population of 400 pupils but expecting more.
In an engagement meeting with the ONC team, the Headteacher-Mr Sekabira John reported recent performance of first grades and second grades with high hopes of better performance this year.
He lauded President Museveni for regularly sending his teams which he referred to as an inspiration and encouragement to not only learners but also teachers and parents. He however highlighted fewer setbacks such as inadequate classrooms, unnecessary transfer of teachers especially towards exams leading to backsliding of pupils’ performance and unsupportive parents who don’t provide meals for their children.
Bryan keitira asked the Headteacher to always engage stakeholders not limited to ONC, District educationists among others in case of any issues that may retard service delivery at their school.
He also promised to source some scholarships for disadvantaged good performers.
As she commended the Headteacher for maintaining a good learning environment for learners, Namisango Harriet asked the Headteacher to actively engage parents to provide meals for their children.
She also asked pupils to focus on their studies and encourage them especially girls to avoid sex at a young age that may ruin their lives and studies.
