Police annual report shows 1% decrease in phone theft

National: A police report has shown a decrease in the number of phones stolen according to the data collected by police in the past year 2024.
A total of 7,330 cases of Mobile phone thefts were reported to Police in 2024 compared to 7,407 cases reported in 2023, giving a 1.0% decrease in Mobile Phone Thefts. Most of these cases occurred as a result of snatching from unsuspicious members of the public.
KMP North registered the highest number of Mobile Phone Thefts (1,002 cases), followed by KMP/S with 909 cases, Rwizi with 834 cases, KMP East with 542 cases, and Greater Masaka with 365 cases.
