Mbale City Police yesterday Monday arrested Sande Idrin, the manager of Grace Guest House, in connection with the murder of a 15-year-old Nakaloke SS student.
The student was allegedly defiled and killed by her boyfriend, who is still at large, at the guest house on Sunday.
According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, Idrin was arrested for aiding in the investigation.
He says the police accuse him of aiding the suspect in defiling and murdering the underage student.
Taitika emphasized that, by law, minors are not allowed to be given a room in a lodge with someone for sexual activities.
The guest house has been temporarily closed as investigations continue.
Asumin Nasike, the Mbale Resident City Commissioner, revealed that Grace Guest House was operating without a license from Mbale City.
She says the city plans to conduct an operation to crack down on unlicensed lodges and hotels.
The victim’s body has been handed over to her relatives for burial. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
