Police commence investigation on interdicted Bududa natural resource officer

The police in the Elgon region have today Thursday launched an investigation into Michael Musamali, the Bududa District Natural Resource Officer, who was interdicted in January this year.

Musamali was accused of soliciting money from locals living in disaster-prone areas during the on going registration exercise of people who were meant to be relocated to the Bunambutye government resettlement area.

The interdiction was made by Martin Kiplangat, the Chief Administrative Officer of Bududa District, after locals and the Bufuma Sub-County LCIII Chairperson, Jackson Makayi, made allegations against Musamali.

Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the findings will be presented to the district leadership.

Milton Kamoti, the Bududa District LCV Chairperson, emphasized that the registration exercise for people living in disaster-risk areas is free and urged locals to report to any officer asking for money.

Kamoti also cautioned other district technocrats, stating that anyone found engaging in corruption will be dealt with.
