Police reveal new details on Muvawala abduction

Kampala: Police have revealed new details on Charles Muvawala Bukenya who was reportedly abducted on 5th March.
In a statement made by Kituuma Rusoke the police spokesperson, Police have been monitoring social media circulations of the disappearance of Mr Muvawala Charles Bukenya. Last week on Friday March 07, 2025 Mr Muvawala re-surfaced allegedly after being dumped in Buliisa by his captors.
Kituuma reveals that on March 5, 2025, Charles Muvawala Bukenya’s driver, Mr. Businge, reported to Old Kampala police that Muvawala had disappeared around 1:00 am.
Businge stated that Muvawala had called him to Happy Boys bar in Nakulabye, where Muvawala was using the sauna. Businge arrived around 10:00pm, and they stayed there until around 1:00 am. Muvawala then told Businge he was going to an Equity Bank ATM across the road to make a transaction.
After a while, Businge called Muvawala, but the calls went unanswered. Eventually, Muvawala sent a phone message saying he had been abducted.
Rusoke adds that Old Kampala Police initiated an investigation. Preliminary finds show a CCTV footage of Muvawala leaving the bar and briefly speaking with unidentified individuals. He then took a motorcycle to an unknown location.
On the evening of March 7, 2025, Muvawala’s brother informed the police that Muvawala had been found in the Buliisa district. When police re-engaged Mr. Businge about these new developments, he said he would revert after seeking guidance from the Secretary General and deputy spokesperson of the National Unity Platform (NUP) for further details.
Rusoke appealed to the General public to help in aiding investigation adding that they (police) are committed to investigate the matter to the last dot. “We call him upon to come over and aid in our investigations.
Uganda Police is committed to investigating the allegation of kidnap to its logical conclusion.”
