Police Reveals new details on fire that gut Sunrise hotel claiming two lives

Police has revealed fresh details on fired the caught Sunrise hotel in Kampala.
On March 5, 2025, a fire at the Sunrise Hotel claimed the lives of two people and injured twenty-four others.
According to Police Spokesman Kituma Rusoke, The Uganda Police Force appreciates the assistance of the public and other organizations in the rescue efforts.
In his report, the Uganda Police Highlights The following critical issues require attention:
1. Availability of emergency firefighting equipment: The hotel’s water hydrant was non-functional, and the presence of highly flammable substances on the premises should have necessitated a greater investment in fire safety measures.
2. Adequate space for access: Police fire trucks experienced difficulty accessing the building, hindering efforts to deploy ladders to the upper floors.
3. Accurate registration of hotel clients: Hotels need to maintain accurate records of their guests.
4.Theft during rescue efforts: While the public assisted in the rescue, some individuals stole property from the scene, an act that is condemned.
5.The Police intend to engage with businesses of this nature to develop improved strategies for preventing future incidents.
