Seroma emerge Champions in National Swimming schools competition as Hosts Nabumali register great improvement

Seroma Christian High School over the weekend emerged winners of the Inter Schools Swimming Gala that took place at Nabumali High School on Saturday.
19 Schools took place in the 12th edition of the competition which included; Agakhan High School, BSK Rafters , Elite High School Entebbe, Green Hill Academy , Lubiri SS, Mercy Christian Schools, Nabisunsa Girls, Pursuit Education Services, Ruby International School, Seroma Christian School , Shree Sahanjanand School, St. Andrews College Sanda, St. Marys College Kisubi and the hosts Nabumali High School.
The participants were categorized in age groups and were able to perform under strict monitoring from the officials from the Uganda Swimming Federation.
Amongst them, Seroma Christian School emerged the best with 1476.5 points, while Green Hill Academy came Second with 1392.5 points. BSK Rafters came third with 1296.5 points while Agakhan High School came fourth with 961.5 points.
Namayalo Vivian the female coach at Seroma Christian School in her address to the media shortly after being announced winners attributed the victory to the commitment of the participants and the school in providing support to the students.
She noted that their swimmers have shown great improvement and that they are now aiming at hitting the international level standards.
Namyalo thinks that construction of standards swimming pools would help boost the sport further.
In the fifth position was Lubiri SS with 796 points, Elite followed in the 6th position with 664 points while Hosts Nabumali High School came 7th with 585 points registering an improvement having finished 9th in the previous tournament.
Nabude Margret the Head teacher Nabumali High School was delighted with the performance of the school and assured all stakeholders that it’s just the beginning and that the coming years should yield better results that the previous ones.
She also encouraged the surrounding schools in Mbale to take advantage of the swimming pool facility and start training.
Mukwana Vicky Esther, an S5 Student at Nabumali High School who participated in the competition says there’s been improvement in performanceamongst the participants but also admitted that the expertise of their opponent was key in determining the final results.
She however noted that with time and commitment of the participants, their position may improve drastically with in the next few years.
Akiki Max Kanyerezi, the Secretary General of the Uganda Swimming Federation was delighted with the rate at which schools are embracing the game.
He noted that the previous competition had only 9 but then this year, 14 schools have taken part in the competition.
However he urged more schools to embrace the sport.
