Shocking: Bugisu MPs Shy away from proposed Mbale University of Technology crucial meeting

The Preparations to Establish Mbale University of Technology are in high gear. On Saturday, several dignitaries coveraged at Mbale SS to find away through which the University can be Established in the Shortest time Possible.
However key stakeholders like Members of Parliament were absent except for Hon. John Musira and State Minister for Karamoja Florence Nambozo.
John Musira, the MP Bubulo East expressed grief over his fellow MPs shunning away from the meeting. There were only two MPs Present him and Karamoja Minister who is the Woman MP Sironko.
Hon. Florence Nambozo emplored the organising committee to assign a coordinator for each district to mobilize the masses in big numbers for such meetings.
She also appealed to the Bamasaba to minimize conflict amongst them. She asked those involved to forego the small matters in order to achieve the bigger goal.
In his address, Paul Mwambu the Prime Minister Inzu ya Masaba Informed that the idea of Mbale University is long overdue. He noted that since 1962 , several universities have been established in Buganda, Bunyoro, acholi, Toro among others.
He also noted that the establishment of a university is not only symbolic but also strategic. He adds that the university shall provide employment, improve on tourism and reduce the cost of education as well & Fostering social equity.
He urged all stakeholders to actively engage in shaping the Institution that shall change the fortunes of the region.
He also appealed to the Bamasaba to Unite towards the cause.
John Gimuguni the Vice Chairperson of the Establishment Committee informed that Mbale District Local Government has already provided 50 acres of Land and that they are waiting for the President to direct the Ministry of Education to actualize the University.
David Mafabi, a Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Duties called upon the leaders unit and come out with one resolution the that the Process is made quick and short.
Professor John Muyonga, A lecturer from Makerere University and a Key Note Speaker noted that technology has transformed many countries citing North Korea as a nation that was once in Uganda’s league but it’s now far above ‘us’ in terms of development.
He added that Mbale University Technology shall be a great catalyst in driving Science Technology and Innovation forward. But he called for collective efforts from Industries, Business Community and Lower levels of learning institutions to make Science Technology and Innovation a reality.
Brief History:
In 2022, the President made a pledge of a Public University for Bugisu Sub Region. Since them an Establishment Committee has been formed With the Chairman Richard Wanda.
Ever Since, a Proposal has been submitted to the Ministry of Education. In addition majority of the Local Governments have since made binding resolutions of establishing a University.
Objectives:
The Objective of the University is to Equip the youths with Science, Technology and ICT skills for job creation and economic self-sustainance.
The University is also meant to initiate, Promote, acquire and apply Information , Communication Technology for resolving Social, Economic, Technical and Environmental Problems in Uganda.
The University is also meant to Provide Higher Education, Forster Research , Innovation and advance skills for National Development.
The University shall focus on Environmental Management, Agriculture, Engineering, Technology, ICT, Science Education and Applied Health.
