Sironko Standard Emerges Victorious in District Football Finals

Sironko Standard Secondary School has emerged victorious in the Sironko district Secondary Schools Competition. The school’s team played a thrilling final match against Sironko Progressive on Friday, April 4, at Masaba Secondary School Playground.
The game ended in a 0-0 draw in normal time, but Sironko Standard clinched the win with a 3-2 penalty shootout victory. The Standard goalkeeper was the hero, saving three penalties to secure the win.
In the third-place playoff, Sironko High beat Bugambi SS 1-0. Notably, Bugambi SS had previously beaten Sironko Standard in the semi-finals, which ended 5-4 in penalties after a 2-2 draw in full-time.
As the champion of Sironko district, Sironko Standard will represent the district, along with Sironko Progressive, Sironko High School, Bugambi SS, and Masaba SS, in the upcoming Bugisu Zone USSSA Football Championships. The championships are scheduled to take place from April 10 to 13, 2025.
