UCC summons media bosses shortly after Muhoozi announcement

National: The Uganda Communications Commission has summoned all Directors of media houses including Televisions, Radios, Print and Online.
UCC Executive Director Nyombi Thembo authored a letter dated 25th Feb 2025 summoning all media bosses to their offices on Thursday 27th Feb in Bugolobi.
The main issue highlighted in the letter is increasing broadcasting of hate speech on Radios TVs and Online.
“The Uganda Communications Commission has noted with concern the continued broadcast on different media platforms ( Radio , Television and Online) of content that contains hate speech and is creating disharmony amongst the public. Such Content is increasing sensational, spreading hatred, false information capable of inciting violence amongst the population.” A statement read.
“Similar concerns have been raised by the National Security Council. Consequently , the commission invites you for an urgent meeting on Thursday 27th February 2025 to discuss at 9am at the UCC House in Bugolobi to discuss these concerns.” It continued.
The meeting shall also be attended by the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, representatives of security agencies and CEOs of Media Houses.
Muhoozi Shocking declaration:
Chief of Defense Forces announced last week that all media house owners shall undergo mandatory Cardership training as instructed by commander in chief.
“We are organising a Cadre course for all MD’s of media houses. It will be a good one. ”
“I delegate this small task to my Vice Chairman of PLU, Hon.Balaam. Balaam make sure you organize the media sector!”.
Muhoozi also revealed that all media houses shall be audited by his office. “My office will soon begin an Audit on ALL media houses. These are the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief. All of you will report to my office from now!”.
