War between Nkoma head teacher, physics teacher deepens

A bitter dispute has erupted between Abubakr Kawanguzi, the head teacher of Nkoma Secondary School in Mbale City, and Musitafa Wobudeya, a physics teacher at the school. The conflict has been escalating daily, with both parties trading accusations.
During a recent press conference conducted on Saturday, Kawanguzi announced that the school has taken legal action against Wobudeya for spreading malicious information about the school.
Kawanguzi alleged that Wobudeya has been disseminating false information on social media platforms, claiming that the head teacher has hired people to kill him.
The head teacher attributed Wobudeya’s actions to a recent reshuffle at the school, which resulted in Wobudeya being removed as the head of the Physics department.
He says the school has reported the matter to police and currently
Wobudeya, a science teacher specializing in physics and mathematics, is employed by the school’s board of governance, not the government.
In response, Wobudeya yesterday on Tuesday denied the allegations, claiming that it is actually Kawanguzi who has hired guns to threaten his life .
Wobudeya stated that he has received numerous threatening messages and phone calls, warning him that his days are numbered. He expressed fear for his life, saying he is hesitant to come to town or school due to the perceived threats.
The situation has become increasingly tense, with Wobudeya publicly stating that if anything happens to him, Kawanguzi and his fellow teachers will be held responsible.

Namisindwa District has denied allegations that it postponed interviews for heads of departments, including key positions like District Health Officer, District Engineer, and Chief Financial Officer.
The district had advertised these vacancies last month, attracting applicants for various roles and were shortlisted.
According to Emma Bwayo, a male councilor in Namisindwa District, says on last week the district allegedly held a secret meeting and resolved to postpone the interviews, which he deemed unfair.
However, Grace Namukhula, the chairperson of the district’s service commission yesterday Wednesday, countered these claims, stating that the district had communicated with the Central government regarding the shortlisted applicants.
Namukhula explained that the Central government scheduled the interviews for Monday of next week, allocating officers to conduct the process.
She dismissed the allegations as false and intended to tarnish the district’s reputation.
Geoffrey Timbit, the district’s assistant chief administrative officer, also denied the allegations, supporting Namukhula’s statement.
The controversy surrounding the interviews highlights the challenges faced by Namisindwa District in filling key positions. The district has been criticized in the past for lacking substantively appointed heads of departments, with only one substantive head of department reported in 2024.
